Now you need to get from Marco Polo Airport to Venice

If you're headed for Venice from Marco Polo, the easiest - and cheapest - way to get there is to take the connecting ATVO Eurobus service. The fare is much cheaper than a taxi, only €3 including baggage. You must buy a ticket before boarding. When leaving the customs hall, turn left on entering the main arrivals area. Follow the signs for the buses. At the bus ticket counter you must ask for an ATVO ticket. There may be several counters open and one will be for ATVO tickets. When you have bought your ticket, exit the terminal and the bus stop is right outside. Look for the blue ATVO signs.

The end of the line is the Piazzale Roma, which is a short walk from the ferry terminal (there is a courtesy bus to the ferry terminal from here as well) or you can walk or catch a vaporetto (water bus) to your hotel. The timetable for this service is below.

Ferry Companies

Now you need to decide on which ferry you would like. www.ferries.gr is an excellent site which has ALL the ferry companies listed. You can see the different types of ships and the facilities they have. They are like mini cruise ships and prices will range from the lowest (sleeping on the floor inside or the deck outside) to medium (sleeping on a pre-booked aircraft seat) or more expensive (cabin). You can book several different grades of cabins according to your preference (and pocket!). It is worth noting that in Low Season if you are prepared to take the risk and wait until you are actually on the ferry to book a cabin then you will get one much cheaper than if you pre-book. When I book my ferries I always use www.ferries.gr .  They are excellent, have often found me a cabin at short notice (when other companies have said there are none!), and it’s so easy. You can pay by credit/debit card. They will email you an electronic booking number. You then present this number to the ticket office in Venice and the tickets are issued. If you are more comfortable with using an English booking agent then Viamare Travel Ltd www.viamare.com are agents for all Greek Ferries. I have listed the timetables for the ferry companies that do the Venice – Corfu/Igoumenitsa – Venice route. Please note, the timetables have been reduced to show ONLY the ferries that travel to and from Corfu/Igoumenitsa. They have other departures from Venice to Mainland Greece but these may not stop at Corfu or Igoumenitsa.

Two ferry companies currently operate from Venice to Corfu/Igoumenitsa to Venice. These are Minoan Lines and Anek Lines. I have summarised the timetable connections below. Please be aware that this summary shows the connections for every day. There is a reduced ferry service in winter so check the links to the full timetable below to find out which days the ferries travel.
