ROD McCANCE - Born in 1950 in Glasgow, Rod is the
great nephew (& former pupil) of the renowned Scottish artist
William McCance and his wife Agnes Miller Parker; one of the finest
illustrators and wood engravers of the C20th. Following a
career in engineering, Rod fulfilled his ambition to paint and
sculpt on a full-time basis. His second career has seen him
exhibit in major galleries throughout Scotland and London, whilst
also demonstrating for artists' materials manufacturers Winsor &
Newton and Daler Rowney. In the early 1990's Rod secured
commissions from Central Scotland Police Force regarding their road
safety campaign and annual report cover. Rod's colourful and
varied work encapsulating the vortistic style of the 1920's and 30's
can be found in collections throughout Europe as well as in the USA,
Canada, Mexico and of course, in his native Scotland.
